RE: Rehabilitation Inspection - 17112 Manzanita, Stirling City - AP# 059-083-012

Gentlemen:
On December 1, 1993 an inspection was made of the above noted premises as part of the Butte
County Housing Rehabilitation project currently underway.
Review of the property records indicate pending code violations regarding junk, debris, refuse,
and abandoned vehicles. These pending violations must be addressed irrespective of the release
of any housing rehabilitation funds. Contact Butte County Development Services Code
Enforcement Section for specific information pertaining to pending violations.
The dwelling is a one story wooden structure with a raised wood floor. The dwelling lacks
adequate foundation support. The dwelling is served by a permitted public water system and
is reportedly served by a community septic sewage disposal system. The kitchen facilities are
served by propane gas while the hot water heater is powered by electricity.
The following items are required to comply with minimum requirements of the California State
Housing Law.
EXTERIOR
1. Immediately replace substandard piping from propane source to kitchen appliances
with approved materials including shut off valve at kitchen range. Provide pressure test
of new propane piping system.
2. Repair/replace roof covering and sheathing as needed to provide for, a weathertight
structure.

3. Remove all abandoned vehicles, junk, debris and refuse on property.
4. Repair/replace front and rear porch and stair structures in accordance with Building
code..
5. Provide adequate foundation to support existing structure and remove all earth to wood
contact.

1. Provide a review of the entire electrical system by a licensed electrical contractor and
complete electrical work as necessary to insure electrical system is safe to operate.
Remove all zip cords in house. Repair/replace all outlet and switch covers, junction box
plates and light fixtures.
2. Replace all broken windows.
3. Provide approved temperature and pressure relief valve vented to the outside for the hot
water heater.
4. Provide heating system capable of maintaining a minimum 70° Fahrenheit temperature
three feet above the floor. If wood stove is proposed, stove must be UL listed, have
appropriate non-combustible flooring adequate hearth, flue and wall heat shield
clearances.
5. Provide smoke detector in all sleeping areas and in hallways or corridors adjacent to all
sleeping areas.
All repairs, reconstruction, replacement or patching shall be completed to the extent necessary
to result in a finished project. This may require new material. Inspection permits shall be
obtained as required.
