The Department of Public Works advises that the public right-of-way is located 40 feet from the center line of either side of Skyway Street. Vehicles that are parked within this area are required to have license plates and current registration property displayed. The public right-of-way, whether or not the entire area is'actually used. for highway purposes, is not to be encroached upon. The term "encroachment" includes any structure or object of any kind or character placed, without the authority of law, either in, under or over any County highway. Although parking of properly registered vehicles is allowed within the public right-of-way, the intent of this policy is to preclude the permanent parking'and or -storage of vehicles which are not operable on the public right-of-way, which may create a safety hazard. In order to comply with the Butte County Public Works policy, you are hereby directed to remove your vehicle(s) from the public right-of-way. It is the County's goal to obtain voluntary compliance with the Butte County Code. However, you should be advised that Butte County has an active Code Enforcement Program which provides an effective means of enforcement if voluntary compliance is not obtained. Enforcement may be pursued through the issuance of citations, fines and the recording of a Notice of Violation including a description of the action necessary to abate the violation. You have thirty 30 days to voluntarily comply with the above directions or to present an acceptable plan for abatement or corrective actions to be taken by you.
