The hearing was opened to the public
Charlotte'Hllgeman was there to answer questions,.
Commissioner Peabody was in favor of this permit.
Chairman Walter questioned what a Class 3 exemption stood for and staff
stated that this was for minor alterations to the structures.
Commissioner Lambert asked if it would be helpful to iriitiate a
rezoning for,the area that is zoned U (Unclassified)
Staff stated that they will bring back a proposal for the area. Staff
s�-:ated that the recommendation will be for the whole townsite.
The hearing was closed.

This area was left out of considerations at that time for fL11.,tlVk1 study.
The 1971 Land Use Map shows a commercial center surroundod by low
density residential.The policies of the current
General P1np indicate
that this is a reasonable pattern of land use in the a1,c0The
Proposed expansion of the existing hotel and gift shop to Include the
restaurant and Store appears to be a reasonable request and Would be
compatible with the surrounding uses.
The Department of Public Works conditions listed below are designed to
Provide for safe access and on-street parking in the vicinity of ,the
hotel; It should be noted that parking for the hotel has existed both
on and off-site since prior to the adoption of
P parking standards for
commercial uses in Butte County. While the applicant's site plan does
not show the changes in use with enough details to determine precise
parking requirements, it is estimated that the restaurant and store
will generate a requirement for approxitna�yely 15 new parking spaces
over and above those required for the hotel, Accordingly) the project
should be conditioned to meet the requirements of the Butte County
Parking Ordinance,
The Butte County 'Fire Department (Califotnia *ision of Forestry) has
indicated that this project will not sii,n,i:icant ly affect their
operations. It should be noted that a fire hydrant exist at the corner
of 5k ,
yway and Diamond Street and that there is a volunteer fire station
and a seasonal in 8tirling City, The nearest year'-round station is in
Paradise- Pines approximately 6 miles south on the Skyway,
