Applications for which a permit has not been issued, will expire by limitation one year after date of application. In
order to renew action on an application after expiration, a new application, plans and fees will be required.
FEE REFUNDS
Refunds can only be made upon written request by the person who paid the fee. The request must be made within
two years from the date of fee payment on permits not issued, and two years from the date of permit issuance for
permits issued; however, on issued permits refunds can only be made if no construction work has been done. Filing
fees, plan checking fees for work plan checked and other department costs are not refundable.

form for processing. Our assessor parcel number is: 060-090-018. Our cabin is located in Butte
Meadows, CA. Enclosed with the application is also a check in the amount of $159.95 and 3
complete sets of plot plans signed by the preparer of the plans. I have also sent a copy of the
plot plan to the Chico Environmental Health for their processing. As we discussed my wife and
I reside in Southern California and only are able to get to our cabin once a year. If at all
possible, once the permit has been issued, we would like to schedule an inspection during the
week of 3 - 7 Jul. I will be out of town on business during the week of 19-23 Jun. If you have

Dear Scott Rutherford:
We have received your courtesy notice regarding Building Code Violations at 21120 Pothole
Drive, Butte Meadows, CA.. Your records indicate that we have failed to obtain the required
permits, inspections and approvals for construction of deck and remodeling of single family
residence. We called to respond to this letter on 2/17/2000, and left a telephone message, but had
no response. This letter reaffirms the message that we left.
We have not done any remodeling or building additions on this cabin , deck, or associated
buildings. We did paint the cabin last summer, but no other improvements were done. We
suspect that you have confused our property with the adjacent property, which is behind our cabin
on Pothole Drive. If you have any questions or need additional information we can be contacted

from this office for construction of deck and remodeling of single
family residence.
Since permits and inspections are required for the above work, submit
three (3) complete sets of plans, apply for the required permits, and
pay the appropriate fees. All work must stop until these permits are
issued and you are authorized by our field inspector to proceed. The
field authorization cannot be made until the existing work is inspected
and approved.
It is the County's goal to obtain voluntary compliance with the Butte
County Code. However, you should be advised that Butte County has an
active Code Enforcement Program which provides an effective means of
enforcement if voluntary compliance is not obtained. Enforcement may
be pursued through the issuance of citations, fines and the recording
of a Notice of Violation including a description of the action necessary
to abate the violation.
You have thirty 30 .days to voluntarily comply with the above directions
or to present an acceptable plan: for abatement or corrective actions to
be taken by you. Should you have any questions concerning this matter,

We sent you a warning letter dated December 13, 1990 notifying you that
you are in violation of the Butte County Code at the above referenced loca-
tion. As of this date, the following violations still exist.
Failure to obtain the required permits, inspections and approvals from
this office for construction of a deck, storage shed and summer cottage
in violation of the 1985 Uniform Building Code as adopted by Section
26-1 of the Butte County Code as follows:
(a) Section 301(a) Permits Required
(b) Section 305(a) Inspections Required
(c) Section 305(d) Inspection Approval Required before Use or Occupancy
The above violation(s) shall be corrected or abated by you by submitting
three (3) complete sets of plans, applying for the required permits, and
paying the appropriate fees, including penalties, within thirty (30) days
of the date of this letter. After permit issuance and field authorization
to proceed, the work must be completed and approved by this office within
the permit specified time.
Unless the violation(s) is (are) so corrected or abated, a citation shall
be issued to you to appear in court for said violation(s) and for failing
to comply with this notice. Upon conviction of said violation(s) or for
failing to comply with this notice, penalties shall be imposed and a Notice
of Violation recorded in accordance with Section 41-7 of the Butte County
Code.

We received your- last communique requesting us to specify a
reasonable date for permit application. Is this an
application that we can request through the mail? If so;
please send us the application.
I plan to be at the cabin on Monday, March 11,1991 to rake
needles and do a,general clean-up.' I am hopeful that,
you may be able to have one of your inspectors meet me at
the cabin on that day in order that I.can review with him
all those items dealing with the code violations.
Your letter dated Dec. 13,1990, refers to a summer cottage
which structure we are planning to.use•as a storage shed.
And the storade shed.you may be referring to is being used
as a wood shed. When we previously inquired about the wood
shed with'the County Building Department in Chico, we were
informed that a free standing building of its size could be
constructed. If we are in error, we stand corrected.

With reference to the above subject, on July 28, 1987, we wrote you a letter
requesting that you obtain the required permits and the required inspections
from this office for the work you have done as follows:
Constructed a deck and storage shed without permits on your prop-
erty in Butte Meadows.
Since both permits and inspections are required by both State and County
laws, unless you have obtained the required permits and made arrangements
for the required inspections within ten days of the date you receive this
letter, the matter will be referred to the proper authorities for appropriate
action.
