The Butte County Assessor's records indicate you are the owner of the property. On December 14, 1987, I visited the property and the tenants permitted me to inspect their rental dwelling. The following conditions were observed which are in violation of the California Health and Safety Code, Section 17920.3 (a)(6), (d), and (f); and the California Administrative' Code, Title 25, Chapter 1, Subchapter 1, Section 34, and which pose health and safety hazards to the tenants. 1. Rear enclosed porch indicated as bedroom does not have adequate heating. 2. Light switch near subpanel in bedroom has been used for wiring circuit for bedroom and outside shed lighting and overloads and causes shocks. 3. Attic has numerous -open splices, with several in close proximity to crawl hole presenting safety and fire hazards. 4. Well house has switch without cover plate, unprotected wiring and open splices. 5. Rear roof was repaired and wood stove flue installed at an angle. Wood stove hearth is inadequate, heat shield is inadequate with stove and flue too close to combustible surfaces. Jewell P. Obtain required building permits from the Butte County Department of Public Works, 196 Memorial Way, Chico, CA, prior to making repairs. 1. Cease use of rear enclosed porch as a bedroom unless adequate heating is provided. 2. Provide proper wiring circuit for outside sheds, eliminate overload and shocks from light. switch in bedroom near subpanel. 3. Eliminate all open splices in electrical wiring in attic. 4. Provide cover on light switch in well house. Provide protection for unprotected and exposed wiring. Eliminate all open splices. 5. Failure to comply will result in the Franchise Tax Board, being advised of your noncompliance. You will then be prevented from claiming state tax deductions for taxes, depreciation, amortization, or interest expenses connected with the property as long as it remains substandard.
