The two new alternates to.the.Board were introduced - members Gene Mc.Farren and Mi --t SirJesse... 1. The'request by Bob'.Ediger regarding. the use of a. spiral: stir way was heard -and. discussed. Mo _ion by Graves, second by Honeycutt to grant the appeal to allow the spiral stairway and to clarify the intent or Section 3305(f) 1979. Uniform Building Code As follows: The words "area served" means liveab.le.ar.ea, exclusive of hallways, closets and areas occu:pied.by built .in.shelves and bookcases. Motion passedunanimously. 2.. The request by Wynoka Homes regarding an egress or rescue window not meiting'all of the dimensional requirements of the code was heard. Considerable discussion followed regarding widths needed for rescue and ease of egress with less than the code required 20" clear opening. Motion by Honeycutt, second by Cook to.grant the appeal and to determine that.a window with a 22" sill height, 15'2" apenable width and an op.enable area of 6. Sq. Ft..is equivalent to that specified in Section 1204 1979 Uniform Building Code because of: the ease of egress at the lesser height. Motion carried unanimously. 3..' The request by the Butte County Fire Department concerning the .classifi- cation'ofta building, usedto house a fire truck was heard and discussed. The request by Bruce Holden concerning. the use of a sliding -glass .door ..as the. required exit from .a kiosk in the mall was heard and discussed:.
