September 6, 1988 Thistransmits- the results of an investigation made to determine the stability of a concrete block wall at the Swatton residence. This investigation was made at the req/est of the Contractor, Ron Holland. ' Plan, profiles, and calculations for the wall are included. You will note that all three of the different cross sections do not meet the requirements (UBC) for overturning or for vertical steel. None of the walls will fail under design loads. . The retained material is a compact silt and stands well nearly vertical as evidenced by the road cuts in the vicinity. The UBC requires design assuming the retained material to be fluid. I do not believe that this material will ever exhibit these loads, consequently I do not believe this wall to present -..i hazard to public health or safety.
