The maximum depth of fill is six feet. THE FILL: Prior to placement of fill loose soil and retaining wall forms were removed. Weepholes were'drilled through the wall to allow water to drain from behind the wall. The material used for the .fill was imported to the site and consisted of gravel. The fill was placed under proposed garage slab and adjoining parking area slab. DISCUSSION: Gravel backfill cannot be tested by conventional test methods. It is assumed that upon placement of a gravel backfill it is compacted; therefore, only'slight settlement of the gravel fills are anticipated. The enclosed calculations reflect a 2001P/ft axial load plus a 501P/sq.ft, surcharge. The soil pressure at the toe of the wall is 2020 psf. The soil at the site is capable of supporting the imposed load at a depth of 1'6'1 below the natural grade.
