Your deck and pool may have been installed in 1985 but our inspectors have not been there since a foundation inspection for an addition completed on June 6, 1984. The permit #1634-84 was filed incomplete after expiration with no other inspections. Therefore we would not have been able to notify you of the violation until we became aware of it November 1, 1991. As I discussed with you over the phone, we have a standard deck detail that can be utilized but the plot plan and fees would be required at the time of application. Since it appears that your addition was completed without permits and inspections, it would be necessary.for you to also resolve that issue. It would be appropriate at this time to submit the required plans and include in your application a permit to complete the outstanding permit #1634-84(family room and bath addition). I have had the tax assessor and building inspectors at the house before, during, and after construction and no one indicated that there were improprieties with any phase of construction. Your letter is confusing in that it requires me to stop work when there is no work in progress. I am further required to submit plans for proposed work when I do not propose to do any further work. I am unable to provide plans for the decks as they were lost or misplaced some time ago. I do not live at the residence and am unable to travel to Butte county until the first of February 1992. I could at that time make some measurements and submitt a rough plan of the existing decks. I believe it would be simpler if your ofice would issue me a permit and have an inspector inspect the decks for structural integraty and if they..do not meet code I will rebuild to compliance. Please advise of hoe I can best proceed in order to put this issue to rest. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. No. 62-11-40 )- _ Dear Mr, Schaffer: With reference to the above subject, our records indicate that your Building Permit will:expjire on the. above date. Building permits are valid for one year and should construction be started but not completed by the expiration date of the permit, the permit shall be renewed for 1/2 the original Building Permit Fee (plus a $10.00 "Filing Fee"). The renewal permit will extend the Building Permit for an additional year from the original expiration date.
