Dear Mr. Alvarez:
RE: Permits and Inspections
AP #63-05-17
With reference to the above subject, on September 17, 1982, you applied for
a permit for a detached garage constructed without permits and inspections,
and you applied for a permit to convert a garage into a dwelling unit which
was done also without permits and inspections.
At the time of applying for the garage you were advised that we needed:
(1) plot plans in duplicate, (2) complete plans in duplicate, and
(3) sanitation approval from Chico Health Department. Also, at the time
of applying for the garage conversion you were advised that we needed:
(1) complete plans in duplicate, (2) sanitation approval from Chico Health
Department, and (3) a recorded "Agricultural Statement of Acknowledgement."
Since both -per its and inspections are required by both State and County
laws, please submit the above mentioned items within ten (10) days of the
date of this letter so that the permit can be issued, and then make
arrangements for the required inspections.
Should you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact this
office.

Dear .Mr. Alvarez:
Our office has been informed by Mr. Glander, Chief Building
Inspector for the County of Butte, that you have constructed a
detached garage, and converted a garage into a dwelling unit on
your property in Chico, without obtaining the proper permits and
inspections.
Section 26-1 of the Butte County Code states that the County
has adopted the 1976 Edition of the Uniform Building Code. The
Uniform Building Code requires that all persons constructing
buildings within the County of Butte, except for agricultural
buildings, are required to obtain a permit from the County Building
Department. Section 26-6 of the Butte County Code states that:
"It shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
or corporation to erect, construct, alter,
repair,.move, remove, improve, convert,
demolish or equip any building or structure
in the unincorporated areas of the County
or to cause the same to be done contrary to
or in violation of any of the provisions of
this chapter.
"The use or occupancy of any building in
violation of any of the provisions of this
chapter is hereby declared to be a public
nuisance and may be abated in a manner
provided by law."
Section 1-7 of the Butte County Code provides that any
violation of any provision of the Code constitutes a misdemeanor
or in the discretion of the District Attorney, be charged as an
infraction. The penalty for a misdemeanor is punishment by a
fine not exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment. The punishment for
an infraction shall be a fine not to exceed the sum of $500.00.

by Mr. Glander. on October 20, 1982 and on November 18, 1982, in
order that a permit maybe issued.

permits and inspections. on October 29, 1982 you called and stated that you
would submit the requested items during the week commencing October 31, 1982.
Unless you have submitted these requested items within ten (10) days of the
date of this letter, the matter will be referred to the proper authorities
for appropriate action.
A copy of the October 20, 1982 letter is enclosed.
