Re: Questions Concerning
A.P. # 063-240-028
Dear Mr. Hillman,
I have received your letter and will address any items I can. Time constraints do not allow
me to repeat each of your questions, so I have enclosed your original letter for you to refer
-to. I have answered each question in the order in which they are .found in your letter.
1), In general, there are no restrictions regarding what type of residence you
choose to build. Any structure will be required to conform to the Uniform"
Building Code, Plumbing Code, Mechanical Code,'and National Electric
Code.
2) Building permit fees are based on square footage and will vary greatly with
each structure. Other fees will include school fees, which are also based on
square footage, and sheriffs fees which are $360.
3) As a local building department, we are required by law, to enforce the above
mentioned codes. Any conditions, covenants and restrictions contained in
individual deeds are the responsibility of the property owner and will not be
monitored by this department. .
4) A temporary pole for electric power would be allowed, for lot development or
a well, not for construction until permits are at least applied for. To obtain
temp, power, you would need to come in to one of our three offices and make
application, obtain the permit, and call for inspection. -
5) A well and septic system would require permit application -with the Butte
1
County" Environmental Health Department and would not be handled by us.
6) We do not have ~a' list of wood or pellet stoves but any wood or pellet stove
listed by anapproved testing agency would be adequate if properly installed.
Each unit, if listed, will contain installation instructions on the listing tag
attached to the stove. No inspection prior to installation is necessary.
7) Any building used for other than tool storage and greater in size than 120 sq.
feet aggregate roof area requires a building permit. Concrete piers supporting
posts are sized according to the loads imposed, and therefore vary from
building to building. For any structure that requires a building permit, a set of
plans will be required and will need to include a plot plan, foundation plan,_
framing and floor plan, and elevations.
Should you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Scott Rutherford of this
office at the address or phone number listed above.
Sincerely,
Scott Rutherford
