Il. Description: A. General: The Royal Rooms patio enclosure framing is designed to form wall enclosures for patio roof covers designed by oth- ers. The H-shaped vertical members formed of aluminum alloy extrusion 6063-T5, spaced at 4 -foot centers, fit into U-shaped top and bottom run- ners also of aluminum alloy extrusion 6063-T6. The vertical members are designed to replace columns spanning between floor slab and roof. Enclosures must have wall openings of at least 65 percent of the area below a 6 -foot 8 -inch height in at least one longer wall and an additional wall. The required openings may be enclosed with insect screening or readily removable translucent or transparent plastic not more than 0.125 inch in thickness. Extruded elements are used to frame door and window openings. B. 1990'Accumulative Supplement to the U.B.C.: This report is unaf- fected by the Supplement. C. Identification: Each enclosure is identified by a permanent decal or tag giving the name and address of the manufacturer, the design loads and the research report number. III. Findings: That the Royal Rooms Patio Enclosure Framing com- plies with Chapter 49 of the 1988 Uniform Building Code Appendix, sub- ject to the following conditions: 1. The construction is in accordance with att ched plans, dated April, 1990. 2. The enclosures are limited to patio covers designed to be en- closed with maximum allowable loads ofl`10-pound-per-square- foot live load, 10 -pound -per -square -toot horizontal wind load and 7.5 -pound -per -square -foot wind uplift forces. Calculations and other data may be required by the building official if evi- dence of compliance is not available on the existing patio cover. 3. The patio cover roof projections are/limited to 20 feet. 4. Height of the patio cover above grade is limited to a maximum of 10 feet. This report is subject to re-examination in two years.
