Dear Mr. Johnson:
With reference to the above subject and your letter dated September 9, 1988,
expressing your concern about the excavation made at your property line
by the building contractor, we finaled the building.on July 1, 1988..
Our;'field inspector indicated the contractor had.-regradbd the slope and
in his opinion was exempt from permit requirements per Section•7003, excep-
tion 8 (see attached).
I am forwarding a copy of this letter to Solar Design- Homes so ,they are
made aware of your concerns about..erosion control..

Dear Mr. Glander:
The lot next door to our home has recently been developed and
a home has been constructed on it.
When the lot was being developed, the contractor lowered the
level of the lot at the property line approximately three
feet below that of my lot.. At that time, I spoke with the
contractor, Solar Design Homes, and inquired about a retaining
wall to protect my property from washing away during.a rain
such as we are capable of .having in our area. I was told that
no retaining wall was planned. I then called your office'and
spoke with one of your inspectors. He asked for the name of
the owner of the property and was told it was Geiss. He, the
inspector, then looked up the building permit and I was then
told that it was necessary for this retaining wall and the
contractor was aware of this. I again spoke with the con-
tractor several days later and was told that no retaining wall
was going to be put in. I then called your office and this time
the inspector with whom I spoke told me that it was not neces-
sary to -put in such a retaining wall. I told him that a por-
tion of the excavation, approximately 20 feet, was ten inches
or so inside of my property line. He then told me that I would
have to call the sheriff and charge him with trespassing. This
last Statement seemed to be rather strange.
I am concerned about this excavation because when we get some
rain in Paradise Pinu like we often have, my property surely
will erode and was down the bank.
