1. All wood bearing on concrete shall be pressure treated Hem -Fir
2. Holes for bolts shall be bored with a bit 1/32" to I/16" larger than nominal bolt

unless special washers are called for on plans or details. Bolts shall be

to be lapped a minimum of 48" between splices and shall be connected together
with a minimum of 12-16d nails unless otherwise noted.

FOUNDA T ION
The Contractor shall be responsible for the location of all underground facliltles
C other buried objects which may be encountered but which are not shown on
hese plans. Locations and depths of any existing utilities that may or may not
uile shown on these plans they are approximate and may not be complete.
Foundation design is based upon an assumed soil bearing capacity of 1500 PSF
per Butte County Building Department.
All excavations shall be inspected and approved by the Building Official before
concrete is pour'ed . Footings shall extend to firm, undisturbed native soil one foot
minimum below existing grade, or as directed by Engineer, whichever is lowest.

presented to the Engineer of a,90% relative compaction per ASTM 1551.
The bottom of all footings shall be level.
The Contractor shall be responsible for determining the exact location of all anchor
bolts, holdown anchors or straps, and embedments, prior to placement of concrete and

at 6'-0" o.c. maximum unless otherwise noted on plans, shearwall schedule, or details.

Ali holddown anchor bolts, column base plate, etc. shall be wired and tied in place
proir to placement of concrete.
The concrete contractor and framing contractor shall coordinate the placement of all
hoidown anchors, column base plates, etc. prior to foundation inspection. and placement
of concrete.
CONCRETE:
All concrete shall hags a cement factor of 5 sacks per cubic yard, a maxtimum slump of
4" and a minimum Fc -2;500 PSI after 28 days curing unless otherwise noted.
Vibrate concrete around all bolts, rebars and surfaces.
Construction joints shall be clean and wet prior to pouring concrete.
STEEL:
Reinforcing steel shall conform to the provisions of ASTM A-615 Grade 60 for 15
bars and larger. All rebar to be deformed and all splices shall not be less than 30
bar diameters of the larger bar . Horizontal laps in adjacent bars shall be staggered
51-01' minimum.
Bolts and nuts shall conform to the provisions of ASTM A301, Grade A.
Steel studs shall conform to the provisions of ASTM a 568.
Structural steel shall conform to the provisions of ASTM A-36
All field welding shall be single pass filet welds as shown on the plans. Welded
connections are desingned for 50 percent of all allowable stresses, so no specs,
inspector is required. However, the Inspector shall check qualifications of welder
at the start of work and then make the final inspection of all welds for compliant
prior to completion of Welding.
All shop welding shall be performed la an approved shop per UBC 1701.1.

designer used the proper gravity and lateral loading, truss layout, and spans where

required In the design of the trusses. The structural design of the Individual trusses,
and framing configuration are the sole responsibility of the truss manufacturer.

MASONRY:
I.
All concrete shall have a cement factor of 5 sacks per cubic yard, a maximum
slump of 4" and a minimum fc=2,500 P51 after 28 days curing unless otherwise
noted.

Motar shall be type "S" and have a minimum fc=1800 psi.
3.
Grout shall have minimum fc=2500 psi after 28 days curing.
4.
All masonry shall be Installed per UBC section 2105.
5.
Renforcement shall be placed prior to grouting. Reinforcement shall be secured
against displacement prior to grouting by wire positioners or other suitable
devices at Intervals not exceeding 200 bar diameters. Bolts shalil be accurately
set and held in place to prevent dislocation during grouting.

Prior to grouting, the grout space shall be clean so that all spaces to be filled
with grout do not contain motar projections greater than 1/2 Inch, motar droppings

or other foreign materials.
The grouting 6T any section of wall shall be completed in one day with no interruptions
greater than one hour.

Grout shall be consolidated by mechanica; vibration during placement before loss
of plasticity in a manner to fill the grout space.

Between grout pours, a horizontal construction ,joint shall be forted by stopping
all wythes at the same elevation and with the grout stopping a minimum of 11 2 inches
below a motar ,Joint, exept at the top of the wall. Where bond beams occur,'the
grout pour shall be stopped a minimum of 1/2 Inch below the top off masonry.

Cleanouts shall be provided for ail. grout pours over 5 feet In height.

All cells and spaces containing reinforcement shall be filled with grout.
