This Owner -Builder Verification is required by Section 19831 and 19832 of the California Health and Safety Code. This verification must be completed and returned to our office before we are permitted to issue the permit. OVER Dec 17 02 11:37a p.l Dear Property Owner: An application for a building permit has been submitted in your name listing yourself as the builder of property improvements specified. For your protection, you should be aware that as `owner -builder" you are the responsible party of record on such a permit Building permits are not required to be signed by property owners unless they are personally performing their own work. If your work is being performed by someone other than yoursel& you may protect yourself from possible liability -if that person applies for the proper permit in his or her name: ' Contractors are required by law to be licensed and bonded by the State of California and to have a business license from the city or county. They are also required by law to put their license number on all permits for which they apply. If you plan to do your own work, with the exception of various trades that you plan to subcontract; you should be aware of the following information for your benefit and protection: 0 If you employ or otherwise engage any persons other than your immediate family, and the work (including materials 'and other costs) is $300 or more for the entire project, and such persons are not licensed as contractors or subcontractors, then you may be an employer. 0 If you are an employer. you must register with the State and Federal Governments as an employer and you are subject to several obligations including state and federal income tax withholding, federal social security taxes, worker; compensation insurance, disability insurance costs, and unemployment compensation contributions. 0 There may be financial risks for you if you do not carry out these obligations, and these risks are especially serious with respect to worker's compensation insurance. 0 For more specific information about your obligations under Federal Law, contract the Internal Revenue Service (and, if you wish, the U.S. Small Business Administration). For more specific information about your obligations under State Law. contact the Department of Benefit Payments and the Division of Industrial Accidents. If the structure is intended for sale, property owners who are not licensed contractors are allowed to perform their work personally or through their own employees, without a licensed contractor or subcontractor, only under limited conditions. A frequent practice of unlicensed persons professing to be contractors is to secure an "'ownerbuildet" building permit, erroneously implying that the property owner is providing his or her own labor and material personally. Building permits are not required to be signed by property owners unless they are performing their own work personally. Information about licensed contractors may be obtained by contracting the Contractors State License Board in your community or at 1020 N Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Please complete the "Owner Builder Verification" on the reverse side of this form so that we can confirm that you are aware of these matters. The building permit will not be issued until the verification is returned. Sinazel l 1 'J / i✓rL't--ti `Michadl-C. Vieira, C.B.O. (NOT INCLUDED WITH BUILDING KM. The fbllovWng steps are the basic outline for installing Drip Edge, Shingles, Caulk, Paint or Solid Colored Stain and Vents and for maintaining your building so that it will last for many years. ri13TALUNG VENTS(RECOMMENDED) REQUIRED INSTALLING SHINGLES REQUIRED PAINTING & CAULKING 1B Recommended Vent positioning is one Vent near front on Side Wall and one Vent in higher location on Rear Gable Panel. However, the Vents can be placed at your discretion. Holes need to be cut through Wall Panels or Gable Panel. The dimensions are slightly smaller than the Vent because you need to screw around the perimeter of the Vent to install. Once positions are determined and holes are cut, screw with 318" (.95an) screws. 20-A Using four nails per shingle, nail 21 as shown in drawing. Drive nails straight so that the nail head is flush with, but not cuffing into shingle surface. Follow illustrations to apply Shingles to your Building. 20-8 Atter completely shingling your building, remave any overhanging, excess shingles by cutting them off with a utility knife. INSTALLING DRIP EDGE(RECOMMENDED) 19 install Drip Edge to outside edges of Roof Panels, overlapping pieces by I w(2.5cm). You may need to use more than one piece if it does not span the whole distance. Once Drip Edge is in place, nail or screw with 3140(1.9cm) nails every 87(20an). With the sides completed, install Drip Edge to Gable End- Use one piece to start and flush it to the bottom of the side Drip Edge. Nail in place, even though it will extend off the roof. Once in place, snip bottom half of Drip Edge at Peak and bend over onto other side of Gable as shown. You may need to use two pieces. Overlap pleces by 1-(2.5c'tt). Once Drip Edge is in place, nail or screw Witt, 3W(1.9cm) nells every 8'(20om). 50 FT would be needed for 1b' x 10'. W FT wouw be needed for 1a x 141. 2" To cover the Peak of your building, cat strip Shingles into individual pieces by dividing at cutout as shown. Bend each piece over the Peak and nail 5-71 8° (14.9cm) above the butt edge and 1'(2.5an) in from each side, exposing eats, piece 5-118' (13cm) to the weather. 5 Bundles would be madsd for 10' 910'. 7 Swdles w6W be needed for 1W x 14'. Use Aaylic Latex Caulk that is paintable. Caulk at all horizontal and vertical seams, between the Trim and Wells, and all around the Door Trim. Use Latex paint to paint your building. When painting your building, there are a few key areas that can be easily overlooked that need to be painted: under the trim on the doers and under the comer trim as indicated in the illustration by the paint brush Icon. it Is very important that the whole outside of building is covered with paint, including places that you would not be able to see but are exposed to the elements, like the inside and top of the doors and the bottom edge of all siding. 2 Tubes of Caulk 2 Gallons Paint for 10' x 10' 3 Gallons Paint for 10' x 14' 1 QT, Paint for Trim NAIL INSPECTION 22 After assembly is finished, check the entire building inside and out for any protruding nails. Pound any protruding nails into the wood or cut them off flush. R means resistance to heat flow. The higher the,R- Value, the greater the insulating power. Compare insulation R -Values before you buy. There are other factors to consider. The amount of insulation you need depends mainly on:the _ climate you live in. Also, your fuel savings from insulation will depend upon the climate, the type and size of your house, the amount of insulation already in your house, and your fuel use . patterns and family size. If you buy too much insulation, it will cost you more than what you'll .save on fuel. 1 - To get the marked R -Value, it is essential that this insulation be installed properly.
