SUBJECT: Interpretation of Cable Tightening Procedure -CAROUSEL HOUSE

I have this date discussed our letter of September 22nd,
subject as above, with Mr. Jim Glander, Building Official of
Butte County.. Verbally I explained that a great deal of latitude
in the 150 ft. lbs. of torque should be allowed depending upon
the friction in the particular cable assembly system.
Reference is made to Williams Rock Bolt "Torque -Tension
Graph" enclosed herewith. A torque of 60 ft. lbs. produces a
pre -load of 2,000 lbs. to 7,000 lbs. in their rock bolt assemblies.
It is my professional opinion that a torque reading -of 40 lbs.
to 150 lbs. should provide an adequate pre -load for the Carousel
cable assemblies. The important thing is that the crown of the
building is raised 1/4 inch to prove the pre -load in the cable
assembly: This movement should assure that_all of the slack is
taken out of the cable a

The area in which you are ,located permits mobile homes. Permits are re-
quired for mobile home utilities, mobile home installation, and any decks;
awnings, garages, etc.
Please submit plot plans in triplicate when making permit applications
and building plans in duplicate for awnings, etc. Awning previously
legally constructed under permit can be reinstalled.
