w--stioned by your field inspection personnel.
The garage excavation has resulted in a relatively steep slope
between th:,s easterly garage foundation wall and the easterly
second, floor foundations above. The proximity of the upper
footing to the top of the out, and the stability of the slope
in general warranted .'investigation.

Sect 2907 (d) 3 of the 1985 Uniform Building Code presents

The stability of the slope created by the garage excavation
was investigated. In this Investigation the slope was checked
with a normal soil moisture content and totally saturated. A
safety factor of 1.5, was ,established- ,, The soil strength required
for this factor of, safety,is within the limits of the weathered
rods/clay soils on the site. Please refer to the enclosed
calculations for the details of this investigation.
In some areas of the perimeter footings, the stem wall height
measured from the top of the footing flange, it greater than 32".
In ' se areas vertical #4 rebar should be plac..,O, at 24g1 o. c.
alo. the stem centerline. These bars should run from the bottom
of the footing and terminate at the top of the stem with a `
