:(B) TANK INSULATION. Storage type water heaters and storage and
backup tanks for solar systems shall be externally wrapped with
R-12 insulation or greater.
(C) PIPE INSULATION. The.five feet of pipe closest to the water
heater and outside conditioned space shall_ be insulated with a
minimum of R-3. Steam and steam conditioned space shall be
insulated with a minimum of R-3. Steam and steam condensation
return piping and recirculating hot water piping outside the
building envelope shall be insulated in accordance with
T20 -1408(d).
