® (B) TANK INSULATION. Storage type water heaters and storage and
backup tanks for solar systems shall be externally wrapped with
R-12 insulation or greater.
(C) PIPE INSULATION. The five feet of pipe closest to the water
heater and outside conditioned space shall be insulated with a
minimum of R-3. Steam and steam conditioned space shall be
insulated with a minimum of R-3. Steam and steam condensation
return piping and recirculating hot water piping outside the
building envelope shall be insulated in accordance with
T20 -1408(d).
(D) FLOW RESTRICTORS shall be provided for showerheads and faucets
as outlined in the new appliance efficiency standards and shall
be certified to the Energy Commission.
(7) LIGHTING
• (A) Lamps used in luminaries for general lighting in kitchens and
bathrooms shall have an efficacy of not less than 25 lumens per
watt (usually florescent).
