Vieira, Manager, Building Inspection Subj: Building Code Violation, 455 Rocky Point Road A.P. #071-29-031 Dear Mr. Vieira: Back in 1981 I purchased this property and obtained all the permits I thought were required. We have Sewer, Water, Electrical and a Mobile Home permit. As the size of my family grew; I have three daughters, I built rooms to accommodate them. I sincerely did not think I was doing anything wrong. I had paperwork setting forth guidelines for K -Zone construction. All the work I did was strong and safe. These additions were built around these dates: Living room, 1985, bedrooms, 1988, 1990 and 1992. I provided a good, safe environment for my family to live in and did not I was in violation of anything until we received your notice dated 11-6-97. We had moved into the fixer -upper house we are buying in town on11-4-97. With the help of the GAIN Program I landed a good, permanent job with a company downtown so we bought this home to be near work and to save on gas money. We have no intention of further occupying, renting, or selling the place on 455 Rocky Point Road. I really do not know how to proceed with this matter. We live from paycheck to paycheck and could never come up with the money that your letter implies. Court fines will only put further hardship on my family. I could dismantle the rooms down to the original Mobile home but I would need a reasonable amount of time as I only get two weeks of vacation a year. I want you to understand that I really wish I could comply with your warning letter. It was a shock to receive this letter after living on that land for sixteen years. I am just now at a position of "standing on my own two feet" and given enough time I could probably save enough money to tackle this problem. Unfortunately, the ten days to comply in your letter is not enough time and I don't have the money right now so when you issue a citation I will do the best I can to work this matter out. Pursuant to Butte County Code (BCC) Section 41-2, we sent you a courtesy notice dated November 6, 1997 notifying you that you are in violation of the BCC at the above -referenced location.
