If you have a deck which you propose to make into a habitable room addition to your house as described in your letter, permits and inspections would be required from this office. To obtain the required permits, please submit two complete sets of plans including plot plan, floor plan -and structural details to this office, make application for the permits and pay the appropriate fees. The exterior walls of the room would be required to be supported on a con- ventional perimeter concrete foundation system and the room would be required to be wired in accordance with the 1978 National Electric Code. If you propose a foundation system other than the conventional type, the design and plans must be submitted by a registered engineer and must conform to the engineering requirements of the code. Inspections will not be made if the job card and approved plans are not on the job at the time of inspection. Before construction, please review the approved set of plans and make note of any corrections made in red. If any of these notes or corrections are not clear to you, please contact this office -- do not proceed with the work without making the correc- tion. The job card must be signed by the inspector before proceeding with each item listed. Should he not sign the card, a yellow correction notice will list the corrections to be made and a call back inspection must be made before going any further. Please allow 24 hours for inspection service. As a reminder to you, it is illegal to occupy this building or portion of building for which this .permit is issued without approval from this office.
