I did not get all of his concerns down, but the jist was that 7 or 8 different inspectors or building staff have met with him and he has been told numerous conflicting things with respect to requirements. He apparently proceeded in some plumbing and electrical to place washers and dryers in a shed without permits, but believes he -was not properly informed of requirements. He has complained of rudeness/abruptness and a high handed approach by staff. He was quite upset. I told him that you or Dave would call him to help clarify where he now is and exactly what needs to be done to complete his project and final inspections. His telephone number is 589-4446. After you talk to him, please let me know -the outcome. Before too long, I would like to -brainstorm with you (and Dave?) as to ways we can maintain and enhance a "customer service" orientation by staff. Perhaps a questionnaire at time of final inspection so that the public can respond to how they like the service they received. Jim, this has been one of only a very few such complaints I have received. By and large, the comments about your department have been very complimentary and supportive. Nonetheless, we should pay careful attention to public perceptions and make improvements wherever we can. Let's pursue this together. Thank you!
