The bolts used in this structure are 5/8", and 3/" diameter A325 grade, with hardened steel washers beneath hardened steel nuts. 3 bolts from each size were taken from excess stock and tightened in the Skidmore -Wilhelm load cell in order to establish an average job test torque for slip -critical connections per Table 4 of the RCSC specification for structural joints in the AISC Manual for Steel Construction. Each bolt assembly had been installed and tightened by the contractor prior to our arrival. There were a total of 24 bolts in the structure tested using the above mentioned procedure to the applicable test torque using a calibrated dial indicator torque wrench. 1" bolts could not be tested with our wrench. Contractor did not have necessary equipment on site for "turn of the nut", will have to be tightened at a later time. Based on this procedure, it is our judgment that all 5/8"and 3,4"A325 high strength bolts installed in the structure have been tensioned in accordance with the`requiremi Manual for Steel Construction.
