Dear Mr & Mrs. Swett:
This department received a complaint alleging health and safety
hazards in the above list -ed rental dwelling. The Butte County
Assessor's records ind--cate that you are --the owners of the
property.
On October 17 19911 , I visited , the property- and the tenant
Permitted me to inspect "C -he rental uni t. The following conditions
where noted which are in vialation of -,he California Healt-ILL and
Saf et -,,r Code, Section 1792 .0. 3 (a) (13) , (d) and g - (1) (2) and which
pose hea'Ith and safetv hazards to the -,=-nanr---= and render the
dwelling substandard.
1. There are holes in the livi-ng room carz�et thar- are t --rip
hazards. Also, there are broken viny'l floor tiles in %the
kitchen that are trip hazards.
The light switch on the light above the di-ning room table dces
not always work.
3. There is water damage to the of both west-=rly
bedrooms.
4. A hole in the roof was nor -ed from a ceiling opening In a
closet in one of the west-=rlv bedrooms.

It was reported that the space heater and hot water heater in the
dwelling were installed without the required permits from the Butte
County Building Department.
Also, a smal- depression in the earth over the septic tank may
indicate that the boards over the ser)tic' tank may be partially
rotten.
These conditions shall be corrected as follows and within THIRTY
(30) DAYS from receipt of this letter. Obtain permits from the
Butte County Department of Public Works, 7 County Center Drive,
Oroville, CA 95965, prior to making repairs.
1. Repair or replace the carpet in the living room, and repair or
replace the broken vinyl tile in the kitchen.

Repair or replace the light switch that operates the light in
the dining room.
3. Repair the water -damaged ceiling in the westerly bedrooms.
4. Repair the hole in the roof.
5. Obtain the necessary permits for the space and hot water
heaters and comply with applicable laws.
A reinsnection will be made. Failure to comply will result in the
Franchise Tax Board being advised of your noncompliance. You will
then be prevented from claiming state tax deductions for taxes,
depreciation, amortization, or interest expenses connected with the
property as long as it remains substandard. This.notice is given
to you pursuant to Section 17299 and 24436.5 of the California
Revenue and Taxation Code.
