RE: Small Diameter Well Construction, 288 Circle Dr?,-C,N36-230-033
Dear Mr. Sinkey,
The permit to construct a small diameter well at the above location has been issued.
This letter is to inform you of possible contamination in your water distribution system as
a result of being connected to an unapproved water source. The water quality from an
open irrigation ditch, which does not meet present potable water standards, has
contaminated your water distribution system. If a potable water supply, one clear of
contamination, is then connected to the contaminated distribution system the new water
supply may become contaminated. In. addition, if a backflow condition occurred the
groundwater in the well might also become contaminated.
Therefore, we recommend that prior to connection to the new water supply your
distribution system be cleaned. Cleaning of the distribution system will help to ensure a
safe drinking water supply. Enclosed is a handout which describes this procedure (for
your situation begin at step six in the pamphlet), or you may hire a service company to do
this for you. Cleaning the system can take place at the time of pump installation.
