In addition, your plans are routed to other regulatory entities including but not limited to Planning, Public Works, Environmental Health, and the California Department of Forestry for their clearances and approvals. Building Code Chapter 7A, 2007 California Building Code The California Building Commission adopted the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) codes in late 2005. The majority of the new requirements take effect in 2008. These new codes include provisions for ignition resistant construction standards in the wildland urban interface. The updated fire hazard severity zones will be used by building officials to determine appropriate construction materials for new buildings in the wildland urban interface.
