I would like to direct your attention to Article 21
Forestry and Recreation Classi.fiaation; on page 124 of �he
proposed Butte County Master Zoning Ordinance. We are inter=
ested in Article 21 because it is .into this zone that muh
Of our timberland will most likely fail. Several aspects` of
this Article concern us;
1. The statement of purpose gives first emphasis to outdoor
recreation and mentions the exploitation of native materials
only as an afterthought. We feel that the extraction of timber
and other native materials] being; a cornorstone of Butte
County's economy, should be given prime emphasis in the; state-
ment of purpose.
