not be in harmony wit:` the prpsent use. Commercial would nobbe
well accepted in the area, It also would be in conflict with the

values
alues and investments.. The, Staff recommends that the rezoning

request be denied.
Motion was made by Commissioner Stott to grant the "C-111
,(Light Commercial) as requested by,Mr. Dettencourt. His motion
was based on the fact that the proparty was previously zoned

for Bettencourt's property subject to securing a use permit,
and Commissioner Stott felt that, just because .Mr .Bettencourt,
had, not(developed his property within this time, the privilege
for the C-1 Zoning should not be taken away from him.

To The Butte County
Planing Commission
Gentlemen!
I
In the matter of William Bettenoourt rezoning
(No 1 on notice of meeting for Tuesday,, January 16 ,
1968), please place the undersigned on record as soundly
objecting to any change From. R_l zoninp,• on the property
mentioned above (AP 45-33-69, Chico)
I consider it to be a rank injustice to allow any
change on this property from R-1 zoning since the adjacent
ropertios to thet south and west have been developed at
considerable time and expense into 53 residential 'lots
known as Mountal,yi Nista Subdivision ''o 7. and No 2, located
In the city limits of the City of Chico. To allow an
adjoining piece of property, not in the city limits, to
change its zoning from R-1—esperiall after
  Y practically
all the development has been completed on th.e Mountain
Vista $1abdivision---would be unfair,. unjust and, detrimental
to the subdivision developer$ and other nearby property
owners...and not in accord with Bound planning practics
To permit such vacillating zoning changes would place
nei hbOrin
g g property clvners in constant Jeopardy for the:
safety of their investments and for the maintenance of
the home-like c3haracter of the neighborhood.
Accorai.ngly, 1 respocfully urge you to give you
best consi,d.erati,on of the facts as stated above--and t
%he W18hes of the signors of the petition sUbm1ttod by
Ar. Chas. Turns its June, - 1967-and thenrecommend a deni,al
"orrez0hillig of the subject property.
Sincerely yours,
