Commissioner Smith reported that Commi"i0ner Watters had contacted
her earl.iner in the day and said that the -City of Chico had expressy.,'
concern about potential traffic problems that might arise as result
of this abandonment.

Esplanade Drive and Oleander Avenue, Chico
Andy Anrig, 7 Hoy Lane, • Chico, commented that most of the traffic is
generated by Continental Nut Company and sliggested that a traffic
count be taken..
Opposed;: Joe Vanella, P. 0. Box 3474., Chico, the ARCO distributor
for Chico, said that it is necessary for his company's trucks to tarn
left thru 11th Avenue or make a 6 -block detour through a residential
area, and requested', that the abandonment not be granted.
Mr. Flanery requested a continuance of one week because Kr. Savitz
will not return from vacation until this coming week.
Hearing no voice to the contrary, Chairman sylva continued this item
until August 7.

asking that the hearing be continued 60 days to allow them to overcome
opposition to this proposal.
Commissioner Gilbert, sad that he felt this was a just request and
made a motion for continuance until October 9, 1975. His motion was
seconded by Commissioner Watson..
AYES: Commissioners Gilbert, Hanford, Moore, Smith, Thebach, Watson,
Watters and Chairman Sylva.

Transwitt_ed, Herewith, is a a.tition for abandonment of E. lath Avenue between East
EsplanAde Prive and. OleanCer Avenue.
Public Works has no objectioi, to the proposed abandonment and, if possible, would like
to see ingress and egress from Esplanade (old 99E) prohibited.
The Abandonment, if approved, should be subject to (1) dedication of 20 -foot drainage
easement to County within that portion of Oleander Avenue abandoned recently and (2)
rights of the public utilities in accordance with Section 959.1 of the Streets & Highways
Code.
Also attached is a plat (AP 45•-01) of the area surrounding the street to be abandoned,
showing the adjacent property Owners and proposed 20 -foot drainage easement,
