If approved, the, amendment_ should have the effect of preserving prune and good agricultural soils by maintaining most of the acreage with agricultural crops on a particular site: 'As An eXample, a 50 acre parcel with a walnut orchwrd in an A"5 zoning distrctgwould require a minimum "size parcel oi' S acres in order to se re ate a homesite� t4ith the amendment, 48 to 49 acres of the orchard could be maintained rather than 45 acres as would occur under the present situation. Mrs, Schilling,wishes td segregate her 1� acre homesite from the balance of a 10 acre`: e parcel which is primarily a prune orchard. Refer to Attached minutes of the Advisory Agency meeting of September 80 1980, t: Joe Bandy, Agricultural Commissioner and Jerry Smith, PatinAdvisor were contacted regarding the amendments. Neither of them had particular objections, realizing the strict criteria and the need for use permit approval. A situat;t,on such as Mrs, Schilling's may offer an absentee farmer an opporLi1dity to actively cultivate a,: smaller piece of agricultural acreage which may otherwise not be maintained at i. s 'most productive level. The Agricultural Advisory Committee has discussela the proposed p- amendments. Their Position is similar to that of Mr. Bandy ,and, . of fir.
