Part of Lot 4 on A mixed survey strategy was employed. The upper half of the Property (i.e. to thct east of the rim of Dry Creek Canyon) is fairly level and clear of underbrush, aril means of it was surveyed by a, systematic strategy of Parallel transects spaced between 10 and 15 meters apart. The part of the drops into the eanyon exceeds 30% slop property that with manzanita ceanothus and e, and is densely overgrown oak. The actual mid-slopeis. of of relatively th ow archaeological sensitivity, but the bottom canyon-along creek is sensitive With respect to the Presence, in places, of bedrock mortars. I walked to the bottom of the canyon, and foll.awed the stream bank as well as the terrain and vegetation would alloar, looking for rock outrops and other likely features that might have been the locus of intensive Prehistoric human activity. There were actually very few outcrops on which bedrock Mortars could have been placed, l then meandered back and forth from north to south while cslimbing back to the canyon rim, and spot"checked wherever l tould given the limitations of access. I checked the bottom of the basalt rim for rockshelters, which were also favored locations of Prehistoric human inhabitant, The survoy, which took more than three hours on two separate days, revealed no evidence of historic or historic Water 'transport cultural resources ether than the remnants of an pre Water trans g 75 to 1p0 port follows The ditch lies ab..u ' + h m, and y ...:east. of the ri round contours from north to sout It is about three to four feet Wide about one to two and one-half feet dedpi and from has a berm on the dodrislope mrg n*It is partially filled 3n erosion It h structural 31 nt. mesas ho concrete or wooden and/or andtrampling, as of this 'nature aY throughout the regf.on.
