This facility will consist of children ranging from age 2 all the way up to .12. There will be 2 employees, o qualified director and an assistant teacher to run the project. Wo will be open from 7am to Spm Monday through Friday. There will be no one residing on the property and will be strictly used for business purposes only. Parking spaces are as follows: 3 regular parking spaces and 1 handicap space with plenty of turn around room to get In and out without using Humbolt Rd. ` Currently them Is 1 daycare in the surrounding area and It has a waiting list to get Into. There Is a big.need In the community for daycare services dile to the increase of working parents and the need for both incomes. On the other hand single parents are forced to work also to make ends meet which leads to more needed daycare facilities. Another big contribution to childcare Is the welfare reform, which now encourages families to go back to school or work and the incentive being free childcare. I am confident that the center will be a success because currently I hold a wailing list. There are 30 people who will enroll their children once I open. At this time I am licensed at my residence for the maximum capacity of 14 children and because I live 2 blocks from the proposed site all parents will follow me there as well. I have 9 years experience now of being in business for myself and consider myself extremely self motivating and hard working. Just 2"1,l2 years ago I was running 3 businesses all at once. I was a successful owner of 2 full service tanning salons of which Included an onsite daycare facility. There I watched children for parents free of charge while they tanned to make it more convenient and to attract a different clientele due to the high volume of tanning salons moving In the area. This strategy worked and from there it only blossomed to opening up one at home. Now I had 2 salons and 1 daycare business " all at once. It wasn't long before I realized I had finally found my calling. I was a natural at teaching. So I put my tanning businesses up for sale and because I had already worked so hard at making myself a success the businesses sold literally overnight. As a matter of fact one of my daycare moms was the one who bought them. At the time she was what we called a full service customer. Now I was realty to hecome a teacher. Without the stresses of 3 businesses I now had only 1 daycare and could concentrate on going back to school at night to achieve this. I had other big Ideas in store. 1 was going to open a daycare faellily instead. My first Idoo was to open one up next. to Chico Country Daysehool on East Ave. and that fell through but that did not stop me. Now 1 havo found the perfect location even better then the first place and I also know a lot more about the system to make myself even rnore confident of the adventure. The moment I opened my doors at home to children I was completely full. This year I increased from 8 to 14 capnr:Hy and filled all the spots due to my waiting list. What makes me different from the rest Is my compassion for actually taking the time to teach the childron and i can honestly say I genuinely love all children regardless of their race, Income. or upbringing. A child care facility for 14 children, as indicated in your pre -app review, does not require a use permit.. We do require that there be an acceptable sewage system. Our records indicate that. there is a tank and leach line adjacent to the house. We require that you provide a statement, from a licensed septic contractor, that the system is in acceptable condition and has passed a water flow test, or, as determined necessary, that you apply for a permit to install a new system (fee $440) or repair the existing system (fee $220). Another option would be to connectt to the City of Chico sewer system. If you have any questions, please contact the Chico office listed above between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.
