He stated that he will be applying for a building permit for the RV canopy sometime next week, and at that time appeal the requirement for the firewall. He wants to wait until the Building Code Board of Appeals upholds his appeal before proceeding with the Variance. I will not schedule his project until such time as the Board of Appeals makes a decision. Structures within three feet of the property line must comply with the Uniform Building Code, which includes a requirement for a wall with a one-hour fire rating. Because of this new information, it appears that the RV cover will not be allowed in its current position. If you want to keep the RV cover it will have to be moved at least three feet from the side property be. I don't know if this is possible on your parcel due to its small size and the location of the existing structures. As explained earlier, I did not realize that the cover we installed (metal roof with pipe frame support) would be considered the same as a permanent building. We have stored our motorhomes in the location shown on the drawing for over 15 years. Before any shelter, the vehicle would get very dirty from rain, snow and droppings from the trees. The cleaning of it became difficult and hazardous for me. I tried using tarps as a cover, but these were very cumbersome, hard .to control in windy conditions and rather unsightly in my opinion. We then decided to erect a more substantial and appealing cover over our unit. The result is a cover erected in the 5 ft. set back along our northern property line. We ordered a green color to blend as much as possible with the color of the trees. Enclosed with this letter are all the completed formsp copies of the drawing and our check #2718 in the amount of $1, 048 to cover the required fee.
