Phase IV of North State Rendering's Biogas Project
CNG equipment installation
Biogas produced by the anaerobic digester consists of 65% CH4 (methane) and 34%
CO2. In order to use biogas as a fuel in trucks, CH4 content must be —98%, and the
gas must be compressed. The current permit is for the installation of equipment
that cleans up the Biogas to ^-98% CH4, compresses it, and dispenses it to North
State Rendering's trucks.
Previous document submittal included unnecessary plans for the equipment itself.
After meeting with county staff, Biogas Energy is submitting the attached
documentation.
This phase of the project encompasses the installation of equipment that
1) cleans biogas supplied from the digester into pipeline quality natural gas
(UNISON system)
2) compresses and dispenses the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for truck fuel
(ANGI system)
Biogas is fed from the digesters via underground pipe to the UNISON system
comprised of:
1) biogas dryer - compressor skid
2) Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) biogas cleanup skid
3) Glycol chiller (for the biogas dryer)
From the UNISON system, the cleaned natural gas is piped to the ANGI system, while
the off gas (consisting of 85% CO2 and 15% CH4) is piped back to the digester to be
mixed with new biogas being produced.
The ANGI system is comprised of
1) biogas dryer skid
2) biogas compressor skid
3) 3 storage tanks
4) CNG dispenser
The dispenser is used only by North State Rendering and is not available to the
public.
An electrical panel supplying electricity to the equipment is supplied by Layman
