It is not intended to ever have human occupancy — No Seismic Design Required. Conflicting Data: • If a conflict in data should occur between the Universal Racking Solutions Engineered Mounting System Plans and these Foundation Calculations, the installer shall contact both entities to establish which information is the most correct. DESIGN PARAMETERS v v VIL AR 3 1 2015 Cpl The solar array framing system is provided by Universal Racking Solutions. They are solely responsible for the design engineering forces used in these foundation calculations. Wind, gravity, and seismic forces act upon the solar modules. These forces are transferred to the insertion rails. The insertion rails are mounted to aluminum beams called base rails. The base rails, in turn, transfer the forces to steel piles, which are driven directly into the native soil. SOIL CHARACTERISTICS Based on this engineer's recent experience with projects in this area, and the CBC generic allowables, the resistance pressures used in these calculations are as follows.. The baseline numbers are as follows: The bearing pressure of the soil = 1,500 psf The lateral bearing pressure = 150 psf The sliding resistance of the soil = 130 psf ' These numbers may be increased by a factor of 33% for this application, and for the purposes of these calculations the following allowable pressures have been used: The bearing pressure of the soil = 2,000 psf The lateral bearing pressure = 200 psf The sliding resistance of the soil = 173 psf For the purposes of resisting the forces of the overturning moment the numbers may be increased by a factor of 2 as per Section 1806.3.4 Increase for poles. AREA OF RESISTANCE OF STEEL PILES The steel piles are provided by Elite Solar, Inc. They are manufactured in accordance with ASTM A992 (FY = 50 ksi), and are galvanized per ASTM A123. They are W6 x 74 hot dip galvanized wide flange steel beams driven directly into the undisturbed soil of the site. The posts have a 6" web and 4" flanges. The surface area on both sides of the web and flanges can be taken as area of resistance to movement. For the purposes of resisting vertical motion this totals 28 square inches per inch of embedment. For the purposes of resisting lateral motion in the N/S direction, 16 square inches per inch of embedment is allowed. Because of the extremely low profile of the mounting system in the E/W direction, specific calculations for the forces in that axis have not been included. In no case were they governing. In all cases; forces generated by wind were the governing factor. # Seismic forces do not govern. ENGINEERING .r UC. # 15182 8952 NEW DAWN DRIVE SACRAMENTO. This unit has an Electronic Leveling System, and a variable down stroke speed that adjusts to suit ground conditions. This model utilizes an hydraulic vibrating ram providing 1150 hammer blows per minute. The pile driving machine shall only be used by experienced operators who have been instructed by the solar installation company in its proper use. Piles shall be clearly marked for embedment depth prior to being driven. DESIGN FORCES The design forces used in these calculations are taken from the Page One of the Engineered Plans. They are the Analysis Results for Sub -Array 2 - 3H x96W for the system provided by Universal Racking Solutions. There are two Array layouts used on this project. The forces for Sub -Array 2 are greater than the Forces for Sub -Array 1, which makes them the controlling forces. NOTE: The frame analysis results are shown on Page One of the Engineered Plans. Those results are based on the worst of four cases for each, and are the controlling force combinations. The forces are presented individually on the plans. The forces for the front and rear columns have been added together to represent a total force per column and beam set. These forces have then been shown to be resisted by the combined resistance provided by the two columns in the beam set. DESIGN CONCLUSIONS: • The embedment depth of 6.92 feet (83 inches) provides a resistance greater than the worst case scenario shown on the Frame Analysis Results Page for each of five forces. • The Universal Racking Solutions Pile Driven Mounting System is simple, but structurally sound. • There is no pile -to -pile ground interference. ( 8 x 6" = 48" < 134" OK ) • This entire system is located on rural agricultural land. • THEREFORE: Driven Piles of the size specified in the plans by Universal Racking Solutions, and properly driven to a depth of 6.92 feet (83 inches) as outlined in these calculations, are adequate to support the proposed PV System, and overcome all anticipated design loadings by safely transferning them into the soil. The TRIO is a modular option using models at 20.OkW and 27.6kW. It can be used alone for a 20kW system or combined as building blocks for large commercial and utility scale systems. With two independent Multiple Power Point Trackers (MPPT) and peak efficiency ratings of 98.2 percent, these inverters offer superior energy harvest. The flat efficiency curves offer high efficiency at all output levels ensuring consistent and stable performance across the entire input voltage and output power range. Employing fan -less convection cooling and no electrolytic capacitors, TRIO is designed for long service life. The TRIO offers flexible power factor control to comply with utility grid requirements where required. As the first 1000Vdc string inverter certified to UL1741, the TRIO leads the way for efficient, cost-saving, decentralized system design. The TRIO is equipped with integrated Modbus and utility interactive controls including adjustable power factor and curtailment. Additional AC and DC protections as well as arc -fault circuit interruption are all available in the TRIO. These inverters provide the monitoring, control features, and protection required in today's commercial solar installations. Highlights: - This flexible and dependable three- phase string inverter has innovative features to lower system Levelized Cost Of Energy (LCOS) and improve Return on Investment (ROI) on commercial solar installations. - Fully utilize available roof space and maximize harvest with dual independent MPPT. - Wall -mountable design and 1000Vdc input voltage lower installation and material costs.
