GENERAL NOTES
A. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST ADOPTED EDITION
OF THE CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE (2013 CBC), ALL LOCAL BUILDING ORDINANCES,
2013 CRC, 2013 CMC, 2013 CPC, 2013 CEC, 2013 CEnC, 2013 CalGreen AND 2013 PMC
OR AS SPECIFICALLY NOTED ON THESE PLANS AND CALCULATIONS, WITH THE MOST
STRINGENT CONDITION GOVERNING. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR/BUILDER TO BE FAMILIAR WITH AND COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS
AS STATED IN ALL APPLICABLE CODES AND GOVERNING LOCAL BUILDING ORDINANCES.
B. IF ANY CHANGES ARE MADE FROM THESE PLANS AND CALCULATIONS, THE ENGINEER
OF RECORD, SHALL BE NOTIFIED PRIOR TO MAKING SUCH CHANGES, AND THE NECESSARY
CERTIFIED REVISED PLANS AND CALCULATIONS OBTAINED. IF SUCH CHANGES ARE
MADE WITHOUT THE NECESSARY APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER, THEN THE ENGINEER OF

COMMENCING WORK, AND THE ENGINEER SHALL BE NOTIFIED OF ANY DISCREPANCIES
OR INCONSISTENCIES FOUND.
D. THIS STRUCTURAL DESIGN IS BASED ON A COMPLETED STRUCTURE AS PER THE
PLANS AND CALCULATIONS. THE ENGINEER OF RECORD SHALL NOT BE HELD
RESPONSIBLE FOR, AND SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS FROM ANY DAMAGE
RESULTING TO A STRUCTURE DUE TO LOADING CONDITIONS EXCEEDING THOSE

G. EXISTING CONDITIONS DEPICTED ON THESE DRAWINGS ARE TO BE FIELD VERIFIED
BY THE CONTRACTOR, AS THEY ARE UNCOVERED DURING CONSTRUCTION. IN THE
EVENT EXISTING CONDITIONS ARE DIFFERENT THAN SHOWN, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY AND AWAIT FURTHER
INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH CONSTRUCTION.
H. THE CONTRACT STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS REPRESENT THE FINISHED
STRUCTURE. UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, THEY DO NOT INDICATE THE METHOD
OF CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL MEASURES NECESSARY TO

2013 CALIFORNIA PLUMBING CODE SECTION 909.0
ILe following is a list of the general requirements for special venting for island fixtures based
on the 2013 California Plumbing Code. Itis handout is intended to provide only general
infonnation, contact thk Building and Safety Division for any questions or additional
Information.
2_013 CPC Section 909.0 Oland Sink Ventine
• Traps for island siriks and similar equipment shall be roughed in above the floor and shall
be permitted to be vented by extending the vent as high as possible, but not less than the
drain board height; and then returning it downward and connecting it to the horizontal
sink drain immediately downstream from the vertical sink fixture drain.
• The return vent shall be connected to the horizontal drain through a wye-branch fitting
and shall, in addition, be provided with a foot vent taken off the vertical fixture vent by
means of a wye br4nch immediately below the floor and extending to the nearest partition
and then through the roof to the open air, or shall be permitted to be connected to other
vents at a point not less than f inc'nes above the floor -level rim of the fixtures served.
• Drainage fittings shall be used on the vent below the floor level, and a slope of not less
than N inch per foot back to the drain shall be maintained.
• The return bend used under the drain board shall be a one piece .fitting or an assembly of
a 45 degree, a 90 degree, and a 45 degree elbow in the order named.
