March 2, 2016 AES P.O. Box 9231 Chico, CA 95927 Re: Structural capacity of existing roof to support new solar panels Owner: Kimura Real Properties, LLC. (Small Dryer) Location: 95 Township Road, Gridley CA 95948 APN: 021-220-023-000 Streamline Job No.: 2304 To Whom It May Concern: Per this letter we are approving the existing roof framing of the Kimura small dryer existing metal building to support the addition of new solar panels. The panels will be placed on top of the existing roof as shown on plans prepared by AES. The building is located at 95 Township Road in Gridley, CA. The panels and support framing are designed by others to resist the minimum loads required by the 2013 CBC. The panels are Q.Pro L -G4 Commercial Solar Panels provided by Q Cells and are about 6.5' long x 3.3' wide each. They will be installed by Alternative Energy Systems of Chico. The panels weigh 52.9 pounds each which translates to 2.76 psf of additional dead load to the roof. The SM Solar Mount support framing is designed by others and will attach to the steel purlins below. The existing roof structure for the building is comprised of steel Z purlins spaced at a maximum of 5'-0" based on plans provided by AES dated 01-28-2016. Based on our observation and the fact that the area covered with panels will not be . loaded with the 20 psf live load required by code and included in the original design of the roof system due to the fact, that love loads will not be placed on top of the solar panels we are approving the addition of solar panels to the roof. These findings are based on my professional opinion and are not intended as a warranty of any land. Please contact me if you have any questions at 530-892-1100. Sincerely, jV Jeff Richelieu, PE President Streamline Engineering, Inc.
