General- The following exterior covering materials and/or assemblies shall comply with this section: I.I. Exterior wall covering material 1.2. Exterior wall assembly 1.3. Exterior exposed underside of roof cave overhangs 1.4. Exterior exposed underside of roof cave soffits 1.5. Exposed underside of exterior porch ceilings 1.6. Exterior exposed underside of floor projections I.I. Exterior underfloor areas Exceptions: I.a. Exterior wall architectural trim, embellishments, fascias, and gutters I.b. Roof or wall top cornice projections and similar assemblies I.c. Roof assembly projections over gable and walls I.d. Solid wood rafter tails and solid wood blocking installed between rafters having minimum dimension 2 inch (50.8 mm) nominal I.e. Deck walking surfaces shall comply with Section 709A.4 only 2. Exterior Walls- The exterior wall covering or wall assembly shall comply with one of the following requirements: 2.1. Non-combustible material 2.2. Ignition -resistant material 2.3. Heavy timber exterior wall assembly 2.4. Log wall construction assembly 2.5. Wall assemblies that meet the performance criteria in accordance with the test procedures for a 10 -minute direct flame contact exposure test set forth in 5FM Standard 12-7A-1 Exception: Any of the following shall be deemed to meet the assembly performance criteria and intent of this section: 2.a. One layer of 5/8 -inch Type X gypsum sheathing applied behind the exterior covering or cladding on the exterior side of the framing 2.b. The exterior portion of a 1 -hour fire resistive exterior wall assembly designed for exterior fire exposure including assemblies using the gypsum panel and sheathing products listed in the Gypsum Association Fire Resistance Design Manual 26. Extent of Exterior Wall Covering- Exterior wall coverings shall extend from the top of the foundation to the roof, and terminate at 2 inch (50.8 mm) nominal solid wood blocking between rafters at all roof overhangs, or in the case of enclosed eaves, terminate at the enclosure. 3. Open Roof Eaves- The exposed roof deck on the underside of unenclosed roof eaves shall consist of one of the following: 3.1. Non-combustible material 3.2. Ignition -resistant material 3.3. One layer of 5/8 -inch Type X gypsum sheathing applied behind an exterior covering on the underside exterior of the roof deck 3.4. The exterior portion of a I -hour fire resistive exterior wall assembly applied to the underside of the roof deck designed for exterior fire exposure including assemblies using the gypsum panel and sheathing products listed in the Gypsum Association Fire Resistance Design Manual Exce tions: The following materials do not require protection: 3.a. Solid wood rafter tails on the exposed underside of open roof eaves having a minimum nominal dimension of 2 inch (50.5 mm) 3.b. Outlet boxes shall not be used as the sole support for ceiling (paddle) fans. 15. Receptacles installed in wet or damp locations must be listed weather -resistant type. PERMANENT INTERIOR LUMINARIE5 General: 1. High efficiency luminary fixtures must not contain a medium based screw type incandescent socket. 2. A manual -on occupant sensor must not have on always on feature. 3. All sensors (indoor and outdoor) are to let the luminaries they control run for no longer than 30 minutes. 4. All recessed luminaries in ceilings must be approved for zero -clearance insulation cover, electronic ballast, and air -tight. Laundry Rooms Utility Rooms and Garages: 1. All permanent interior luminaries must be high efficiency and controlled by a manual -en occupant sensor. Bathrooms: I. A minimum of I high efficiency luminaire shall be installed in each bathroom, and all other lighting installed in each bathroom shall be high efficiency or controlled by on occupancy sensor. Kitchens: I. Kitchens must have at least fifty percent of the installed wattage as high efficiency luminaries. 2. High efficiency luminaries must be switched separately from low efficiency luminaries. 3. Wattage for incandescent luminaries is determined by the maximum rating of the fixture. All Other Rooms: 1. All permanent interior luminaries must be high efficiency, or controlled by a manual -on occupant sensor, or controlled by a dimmer. Outdoor: I. All permanent outdoor luminaries attached to the building must be high efficiency or controlled by a motion sensor and photocell. VENTILATION I. Provide attic ventilation of areas with attic. Venting to be at a ratio of 1:300. For ventilation calculations refer to the roof framing plan. Cover vents with 1/4" corrosion resistant wire mesh. 2. Eave vents to meet Exterior wildfire Exposure requirements, see additional notes. HEATIN6. COOLING AIR CONDITIONING 1. The heat loss and heat gain of the air conditioned portion of the building shall be determined by a licensed heating and air conditioning contractor or engineer. Such person shall assume all responsibility for adequately heating and cooling the building. 2. The systems shall be properly balanced by the Mechanical contractor. 3. It shall be the responsibility of the Mechanical contractor to verify in the field that registers, ducts, etc. are not located so as to cause subsequent damages to structural members in the framing. 4. All electrical disconnects, service wiring and conduit shall be made by the Electrical contractor. Control devices and their installation shall be by the Mechanical contractor. 5.
