NOTICE TO BUILDERS'"
Before your building permit can be issued, your plans must be checked for compliance with the California
Building Codes. In addition, your plans are routed to other regulatory entities including but not limited to
Planning, Public Works, Environmental Health, and the California Department of Forestry for their clearances
and approvals. There are some things you can do to expedite your permit:
- Make sure your application is complete.
- Be responsive to requests from County departments for any additional materials or requirements.
The Building Division places its highest priority on processing building permits as quickly as possible and each
day that passes without a complete application adds to processing time.
Every permit issued by the Building Official shall expire and become null and void if the work authorized by
such permit is not started or completdd within one year from the date of issuance of such permit (per Butte
County Code Chapter 26, Article 1, Section 263.1). A permit may be renewed (for a fee) prior to expiration a
maximum of two (2) times, provided construction progress has been documented by the Building Division
during each year during scheduled inspections. No changes may be made in the original plans and specifications
for such work. In order to reinstate action on a permit after expiration, the permittee shall pay a new full permit
fee and additional plan checking and documentation may be required. Upon completion of work covered by this
permit, please contact this office for final inspection. As a reminder to you, it is illegal to occupy this building or
any portion of the building for which this permit is issued without a final inspection.
EXPIRATION OF PERMIT APPLICATION AND REFUND POLICY"
Application for which a permit has not been issued will expire one year after date of application.
Refunds may only be made upon written request by the person who originally paid the fees. Refunds for permit
applications, if the permit has not issued, but not after 180 days from the date of fee payment. Fees paid at
the time of application are for Plan Check and administration. The Plan Check portion of fees is refundable only
if the permit is cancelled or withdrawn before any plan checking is done. Building Division costs will be
deducted prior to authorizing a refund and a charge to process the refund application will be assessed. The
current refund processing fee is $127.00. Refunds on permits (issued) may be requested prior to the expiration
of the permit, provided no work has been done pursuant to the permit. An Inspection may be required (and
deducted from any refund amount) to determine no work was done.

PART IV — High Piled Combustible Storage
In Chapter 32 of the California Fire Code, high piled combustible. storage is defined as: Storage of combustible materials
[product and/or packaging] in closely packed piles (floor storage) or combustible materials on pallets, in racks, or on
shelves where the top of storage is greater than 12 feet in height. High piled combustible storage also includes
certain high hazard commodities, such as rubber tires, group A plastics, flammable liquids, idle pallets, and similar
commodities, where the top of the storage is greater than 6 feet in height.
It is very important to contact the Fire Department prior to consideration of storing high -piled combustible storage. Many
of the permit requirements must be built into your building. If your building is not approved for high -piled combustible
storage it may be cost prohibitive. For example if you have a pipe schedule sprinkler system — no high piled storage is
permitted until the system is calculated. Securing a design professional is recommended to assist you with the code
requirements

General Notes for All Tables
1. The values in this catalog are based on the North American
Specification for the Design of Cold -Formed Steel Structural
Members, AISI 5100-07 as referenced by 2009 International
Building Code (IBC), AISI S100-07 with Supplement S2-10 as
referenced by 2012 IBC and AISI S100-12 as referenced by 2015
IBC.
2. Where AISI S100 is referenced, it is the North American
Specification for the Design of Cold -Formed Steel Structural
Members, AISI S100-07 with Supplement S2-10 and AISI 5100-
12, as applicable with U.S. provisions.
3. The structural properties included in this catalog have been
computed based on allowable strength design (ASD) method.
4. Distortional buckling calculations are based on K(p = 0.
5. The effective moment of inertia for deflection is calculated at
a stress that results in a section modulus such that the stress
times the section modulus at that stress is equal to the allowable
moment. AISI S100 Procedure I for serviceability determination
has been used.
6. Various sections may be manufactured with yield points of
33 or 50 kips per square inch (ksi). The yield point used for
calculations is indicated in the tables.

7. For sections available in both 33 and 50 ksi, the specifier must
clearly indicate which yield point is required. For example:

8. Conditions with loads that exceed the 10 psf limit for nonstructural
members require an approved CP60 coating.
9. When provided, factory punchouts will be located along the
center line of the webs of the stud members and will have a
minimum center -to -center spacing of 24". Punchouts for members
greater than 2'/2" deep are a maximum of 1 1/2" wide x 4'/2" long.
Members with depths 2 1/2" and smaller are maximum 3/4" wide
x 4 1/2" long. Any configuration or combination of holes that fit
within the punchout width and length limitations mentioned above
shall be permitted; other punchout configurations and locations
not in compliance with limitations listed above must be approved
by a design professional. Values herein are based on punchout
configuration and location as illustrated below.

Lighting shall be controlled by self-contained lighting control devices which are certified to the Energy Commission according to the Title 20 Appliance
Efficiency Regulations in accordance with Section 110.9.
Lighting shall be controlled by a lighting control a system or energy management control system in accordance with §110.9. An Installation Certificate
shall be submitted in accordance with Section 130.4(b).
One or more Track Lighting Integral Current Limiters shall be installed which have been certified to the Energy Commission in accordance with §110.9 and
§130.0. Additionally, an Installation Certificate shall be submitted in accordance with Section 130.4(b).
A Track Lighting Supplementary Overcurrent Protection Panel shall be installed in accordance with Section 110.9 and Section 130.0. Additionally, an
Installation Certificate shall be installed in accordance with Section 130.4(b).
All lighting controls and equipment shall comply with the applicable requirements in §110.9 and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions in accordance with Section 130.1.
All luminaires shall be functionally controlled with manually switched ON and OFF lighting controls in accordance with Section 130.1(a).
General lighting shall be separately controlled from all other lighting systems in an area. Floor and wall display, window display, case display, ornamental,
and special effects lighting shall each be separately controlled on circuits that are 20 amps or less. When track lighting is used, general, display,
ornamental, and special effects lighting shall each be separately controlled; in accordance with Section 130.1(a)4.
The general lighting of any enclosed area 100 square feet or larger, with a connected lighting load that exceeds 0.5 watts per square foot shall meet the
multi-level lighting control requirements in accordance with Section 130.1(b).
All installed indoor lighting shall be equipped with controls that meet the applicable Shut -OFF control requirements in Section 130.1(c).
Lighting in all Daylit Zones shall be controlled in accordance with the requirements in Section 130.1(d) and daylit zones are shown on the plans.
Lighting power in buildings larger than 10,000 square feet shall be capable of being automatically reduced in response to a Demand Responsive Signal in
accordance with Section 130.1(e).
Before an occupancy permit is granted for a newly constructed building or area, or a new lighting system serving a building, area, or site is operated for
normal use, indoor lighting controls serving the building, area, or site shall be certified as meeting the Acceptance Requirements for Code Compliance in
accordance with Section 130.4.(a). The controls required to meet the Acceptance Requirements include automatic daylight controls, automatic shut -OFF
controls, and demand responsive controls.
