The Substantial Improvement cost is cumulative and includes all improvements that are not listed below as being excepted and that have occurred within the proceeding five years. This term includes structures which have incurred "substantial damage", regardless of the actual repair work performed. The term does not, however, include either: a. Any project for improvement of a structure to correct existing violations or state or local health, sanitary, or safety code specifications which have been identified by the local code enforcement official and which are the minimum necessary to assure safe living conditions; or b. Any alteration of a "historic structure" provided that the alteration will not preclude the structure's continued designation as a "historic structure." Note: If the improvement percentage, cumulative over the last 5 years, equals or exceeds 40% of the market value of the structure before the "start of construction" of the improvement, a certified appraisal shall be required to verify the proposed work will not constitute a substantial improvement. Substantially improved structures shall meet the minimum building standards of the National Flood Insurance Program & Butte County's Flood Plain Ordinance (BCC 26-21) Page 1 of 1 DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES BUILDING DIVISION 7 county center Drive, orovilie CA 95965 Phone (530)538-76x1 Substantial improvement Worksheet for projects within FEMA Floodplain T Existing Building: APN: DATE: USE AREA SF -VALUE TOTAL A U► -eco-+ x X x xx X x X x X X Existing Structure Value ESV : Eq, 50 Proposed Addition -Remodel AREA SF VALUE TOTAL USEx _ s // 4161 Z X x-- X x _ Remodel Contract: Value Improvement Percentage = IV ESV a) uals or exceeds 40 %, an appraisal is required on the if improvement percentage eq existing building.
