Hqden, -Training Section Supervisor MW 200 1988 MOS*Hvko 620 Central Ave., Bldg.# 7. Alameda,, Calif., gh501 Dear Mr EWde'n; I submitted a request approximately three years ago for .a. cooperative -instructors card for Mr. "Logan, he has never received his card, Mri! Logan in now prepared to-operate his own mine and I am therefore once again submitting his Cooperative 00 rative Instructors Approval Fbrm as outlined under the Actj 'Part 48.3(h.)(2). Mr. lagan in VW7 well qualified to teach the required courses through his many years Of actual mining experience as well as his previous teaching background. I will persOnnalygive him teaching materials and monitor his instruction to be sure of his teaching skills and methos of presentation. Pleaseprocess this application as promptly as possible and send his instructors card to him at the following address: Ron lagan 4095 Dry Creek Road OrOvillet Calif. 95965 Z-1 r Z429d_ H. 7&! 5 Property Evaluation I have visited this property numerous times during the past five years.. During these visits I have taken numerous five gallon bucket samples and -panned samples over this entire property. By my samples taken, I visually estimated that the productive gravels would yield approximately. A 5 per cu. yd. During the past year Mr. Logan. has built a wash plant and a recovery system. He' has reported that he has washed and processed a total of h6 cu. yd. This material was taken from as much as 50 ft. above bedrock down to bedrock. The total recovery from the above washed gravel was 29 pennyweight, or an' . average of 0.63 pennyweight per cu. yd. At the present price of gold, 3 W per oz., this amounts to 8 lig per cu. yd., however, this gold is about 90% pure, which reduces its value to 3 12.60 per cu. yd. of gravel. I estimate the most productive portion of the channel on the property will be about 650 ft. wide, the most productive section will be from bedrock to a height of about 25 ft. above bedrock and the extent of Mr. Logans property is 500 ft. These figures will yield a total of 301,000 cu. yd of productive gravel.at $ 12.60 per cu. yd. equals a total of $ 3,793,000 I believe this mine will prove to be a worthwhile and viable mining venture which should yield a very handsome profit. I also believe that Mr.' Logan can and is very well qualified to operate the mine as he. has a ;Teat deal of experience at gravel mining and knows the formations on his property very well. I have watched Mr. Logan go about putting this plant together and testing the gravels. and found him to be capable of accomplishing' these tasks in a workmanlike manner. This is an open pit mine, which makes mining very inexpensive as compared to. underground' mining.. and lends itself to greater production and larger equipment while the cost per yard are comparatively small. I have not discussed the geology, water resources, salable minerals and rock other than gold, mine location, permits and approvals which are very important and have been completed. All the above items are very well discussed and described within the enclosed package of materials under there specific, headings. My observations of,the work done to date and the equipment being used leads me to the following recommendations: 1. Continue mining and test the gravels from 25 ft. above bedrock to bedrock only. This alone will -more. -than increase -the yield in gold per cu. yd.The more material being mined the more accurate the test results are, as the mining process itself becomes the test. 2. Acquire additional equipment, an excavator, which will facilitate digging and loading of material. A compressor and drill, for' breaking up the large boulders which will make mining easier and does.not tear up the equipment, a rubber tired loader for transporting material to the wash plant quickly, a dewatering device so the ponds do not fill up quickly and a few additional small pieces of recovery equipment. 3. Have an engineer or a geologist come out to the property at least twice a month and look over what is going on and to make suggestions, this is not a necessity.but a good idea. Charl H. All the above Atems are very well discussed and described within the enclosed package of materials under there specific headings. Sty observations of.the work done to date and the equipment being used leads me to the following recommendations: 1. Continue mining and test the gravels from 25 ft. above bedrock to bedrock only. This alone will - mor e.than increase -the yield in gold per cu. yd. The more material being mined the more accurate the test results'are, as the mining process itself becomes the test. 2. Acquire additional equipment, an excavator, which -will facilitate digging and loading of material. A compressor and drill, for breaking up the large boulders which will make mining easier and does.not tear up the equipment, a rubber tired loader for transporting material to the wash plant quickly, a dewatering • device so the ponds do not fill u quickly and a few additional small Po P q. ly pieces Is of recovery equipment. 3. Have an engineer or a geologist come out to the property at least twice a month and look over what is going on and to make suggestions, this is not a necessity.but a good idea.'
