All below items are violations discovered on March 11th, 2018 during an annual Title 19 building inspection at the Palermo Elementary School. 2261 Esperanza Ave. Palermo, Ca 95968
Office
Fire Drill Records were not produced during inspection.
Fire Alarm signal to be sounded not less than once every calendar month at the elementary and intermediate levels.
All Fire Escape Plans need to be updated to 8 ½” X 11”, Laminated, computerized with appropriate main/ alternate escape routes and meeting locations. Color maybe used to individualize
classroom, specific routes and meeting locations. These plans need to be built in the proper orientation so is not to confuse the people using them.
Fire Escape Plans should be placed in a conspicuous place near the egress door of each occupied or potentially occupied space.
Multiple Exit signs throughout the campus that did not work when tested or needing new batteries.
Bus Mechanic Shop
Air Compressor Tank Operation Permit Expired.
Operation Permit needed for storage, handling, or use of more than 25 gallons of flammable liquid indoor or 60 gallons of combustible liquid outdoor. Diesel/ Gasoline Fuel tanks, Oil
barrels in shop.
Bus Office
Extinguishers shall be manually inspected at least monthly by the building owner or occupant, or electronically monitored.
Gym
South egress exit sign does not illuminate. Check batteries.
Kitchen
Class K Extinguisher required. Repeat offense from previous years. No Automatic fire suppression system. Has two inadequate ABC extinguishers.
Storage
Storage shall be maintained 2 feet or more below the ceiling in a non-sprinklered areas of buildings or a minimum of 18” below sprinkler deflectors in sprinklered areas of buildings.
CFC 315.3.1 Multiple storage areas throughout the campus needing this adjustment.
Library
Fire Extinguisher was not easily accessible due to decorations and décor placed in front of it.
District Office
Halon fire extinguisher in copy room is out of service by date. Has not been annually tested since 2016.
No Fire Escape Plans. Needed near Main entrance and the main entrance of the boardroom.
