HomeMy WebLinkAbout00-010RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO SUPPORTERS OF THE 'THIRll ANNUAL COMMUNITY WIDE TRUE LOVE WAITS CAMPAIGN WHEREAS, the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health and safety of young adults in our community is of vital importance to the entire well being of Butte County; and WHEREAS. the True Love Waits movement is celebrated world wide on an annual basis; and WHEREAS, the following groups, supporters and organizations are some of the active participants in this year"s "frtle Love Waits Campaign: students in Berry Creek School; [~eather River Adventist School; Oroville Christian School; St. Thomas the Apostle School; Venture Club (Central Middle School); Campus JAM (Las Plumas High School); STAND Club (Oroville High School); Caring for Women; the Community Health Alliance of Oroville (CHAD); the Cooperating Christian Churches of Oroville; Our Children, Our 'T'reasure" and the YMCA; and WHEREAS, many local students have participated in sexual abstinence campaigns and have individually considered the consequences of sexual behavior; at~ui WHEREAS, many students, following thoughtful consideration have signed pledge cards vowing sexual abstinence from now until marriage; and WHEREAS, sexual abstinence is recognized by health organizations and physicians, health groups and other organizations as a most effective moans to preserve the health_ futures and integrity of our youth and communities; and WHEREAS, the positive commitments made now can assure positive decisions that can last a lifetime benefiting us a11. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, recognizing the ongoing bonefits from the True Love Waits movement and positive results realized from the student commitments, hereby proclaims and affirms pride and appreciation to the supporters of the Third Annual Community Wide True Love tVaits Campaign" and encourages residents to acknowledge the value of sexual abstinence by young adults until marriage as a viable method to promote health and well being.
