RESOLUTION FOR CLOSURE OF THE THERMALITO
AFTERBAY FOR EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT ASSOCIATION EVENT
WHEREAS, the Butte County Sheriff s Office patrols the Thermalito Afterbay pursuant
to a contract between the Sheriff's Office and the California Dept. of Water Resources; and
WHEREAS, there is a planned and scheduled "20`h Annual Starduster Open House and
Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Fly-in" event planned at the Orovilie Airport
scheduled May 19, 2000 through May 21, 2000; and
WHEREAS, in light of said event, the Sponsor of the event has requested that the Butte
County Board of Supervisors authorize the public partial closure of the Thermalito Afterbay,
specifically the area between Highway 162 at the south, the shoreline on the north, the
embankment levy on the west, and the shoreline on the east for the purpose of the landing
and docking of experimental aircraft from 6:00 A.M., May 19, 2000 through 1:00 P.M., May
21, 2000; and
WHEREAS, such public closure appears to be in the best interest of the public.
Nt3W THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that exclusive use of the aforementioned Thermalito
Afterbay body of water will be granted to the Experimental Aircraft Association for the
purpose stated above and the public will not be permitted access during the dates and times
specified.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, this 9`'' day of May 2000, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Houx, Josiassen, Davis and Chair Dolan
