PROCL!IIVIf1'I'[ON ('ONFIRMING EXIS'I'F,NC'E OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Chapter S of~ the Butte County Code empowers the Director of Emergency
ser~~ices to 17rucl~~im the existence or- threatened existence of a local emergency when said County
is affected err likely to he al~l~ected by ~i public calamity and the Board of Supervisors is not in
~essi~~n, subject to r<<tificatiun by the Board of Supervisors within seven days; and
WI IERE~~S, conditions ul~extreme peril to tf~~e s~ifety of persons and property that have
arisen ~~~ithin said Co~mty in that commencing late Septcrnber 19th and early September ?0th,
?UUU due to a wildfire in the Concow and Paradise areas, a widespread fire has resulted in the
ev~icuatiun of populations in the communities of Concow and portions of the Town of Paradise.
The Red Cross has opened a sf7elter to accommodate displaced individuals. This mire has caused
and it is anticipated will continue to cause wholesale destruction of local watersheds including
Cuncuti~ Creel: ~u~d the heather River: and
Wh1ERE,~S, said Board of Supervisors dues hereby find shat the aforesaid conditions of
exn-cme peril did w4u~rant and necessitate the procl~~imation of the existence of a local emergency;
and
WHI~REAS, the Director of Emergency Services of the County of Butte did proclaim the
existence of ~~ local emergency within said county on the ?0th d~iy of September, ?000.
NOyy'. "I'1 iI~,RI:hOIZE, IT IS HEREBY` PROCLAIMED f1ND ORDERED that the
pr~~cl,ui~ation of Existence of a Local Emer~~ency, as issued by said Director of Emergency
Services, is hereby ratified and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte;
and
Ll. 1S FURI~HER PRO('LAIMED AND ORDERED that said local emergency shall be
decmcd to continue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by the Board of~ Supervisors ot~ the
('~um~v ~~f~ Buttc. St<<tc ~71~ C'alifornia.
