OF BUTTE COUNTY FIREFIGHTF,RS
WHEREAS, on September 19, 2000, a fire started in the Concow area near the Concow
school; and
WHEREAS, this ti re rapidly spread toward highway 70, and
WHEREAS, after 9:00 p,m., when the down canyon winds started blowing, the tire spread
in the opposite direction, parallel to Nelson Bar Road until it reached the west branch of the Feather
River; and
WHEREAS, this fire took one human life, destroyed sixteen residences, and da-naged two
residences; and
WHEREAS, firefighters from California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Butte
County Fire Department and other federal and local agencies were able to save many lives, forty-eight
homes, one school and three other major buildings as well as numerous outbuildings and other valuable
property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
recognizes and commends these brave men and women for their outstanding effort on behalf of the
people of Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte t:ount_y Board of Supervisors this 10`" day of
October 2000 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Houx, Josiassen, Davis and Chair Dolan.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
