BUTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
TO ACCEPT ADDITIONAL FUNDS
FROM
CALIFORNIA BOARD OF GORREGTIONS
FOR THE MENTALLY ILL OFFENDER CRIME REDUCTION GRANT (MIOCR)
REGARDING PHASE 1 -PLANNING GRANT
FY 2000/2001
WHEREAS, Butte County Department of Behavioral Health (BGDBH) submitted a grant application through
the Butte County Sheriffs Department, to the Board of Corrections for the Mentally III Offender Crime Reduction
(MIOCR} Phase 1 -Planning Grant; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Corrections approved the application at their Board meeting an July 21,2000. The
grant will be awarded via the Sheriff's Department, to have Butte County Department of Behavioral Health (BGDBH)
submit a plan for "implementing a comprehensive, cost-effective plan to reduce the rate of crime and reduce jail
overcrowding and local criminal justice costs related to mentally ill offenders" to the Strategic Planning Committee at
the Board of Corrections no later than March 1, 2001; and
WHERAS, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU} between BGDBH and the Sheriffs Department has been
developed for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, the term of the grant is September B, 2000 through June 1, 2001 and the amount of funds
awarded for the grant period will be $31,100.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors have authorized the
application and the acceptance of Mentally III Offender Crime Reduction Grant up to the maximum amount of
$31,100.00. The funds are to be used in the manner presented in the application.

fallowing vote:
