his retirement as of December 29, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Ji-n Shults began his career with the County of Butte in 1965, as a Laborer, in the
Department of Public Works, advancing within the Department, to L~ecome Road Superintendent, his
present position; and
WHEREAS, Jim Shults worked as a laborer, dump truck operator. road maintenance worker,
lead road maintenance worker, supervising road maintenance worker, supervisor of flood control and
drainage districts and road superintendent in the Public Works Department for -nany years; and
WHEREAS, 1im Shults has earned the respect of fellow employees, engineers. surveyors,
contractors, and others involved in Public Works activities in Butte County, and has diligently served the
residents of the County of Butte for approximately thirty-five (35) years with extraordinary distinction
and leadership;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of
the residents oftt7e County of Butte, wish to express to Jim Shults sincere appreciation for his many years
ofi unselfish dedication and outstanding service rendered to the residents of the County of Butte, and
further wish him well on his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 19'x' day of December 2000, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Houx, Josiassen, Davis and Chair Dolan
