on December 26, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Emmett began his career in Butte County as a Personnel Analyst in the
Personnel Department in December 197q, and was promoted within the department to the position
of Deputy Director of Employment and Training Programs in December 19'79; and
WHEREAS, Emmett ]eft County employment in June 1982 to become a registered financial
representative, and returned to County employment in April 1985 as a Chief Cashier in the
"Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office, and was promoted to the position of Chief Deputy Treasurer in
December 1985; and
WHEREAS, Emmett was hired as a Deputy Administrative Officer in the Administrative
Office in September 1989 and has had primacy responsibility for preparing budgetary and
operational analysis and recommendations for the Board of Supervisors relating to public safety and
other County departments, as well as overseeing the development of an Equipment Replacement
Fund, and the transitioning of the Butte County Superior Courts to independent status; and
WHEREAS, during Emmett's tenure in the Administrative Office he has served as the
Public Information Officer, having responsibility for the accurate preparation and distribution of
information to the public during times of disaster, as well as coordinating public information and
contacts on behalf of the Administrative Office as a general responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Emmett has also shown great team spirit by acting as the County coordinator
of the Butte County Employees Blood Drive and serving on the County's Deferred Compensation
Advisory Committee and Rabbi Trust Committee; and
WHEREAS, Emmett has consistently demonstrated high ethical standards, has taken on
extra responsibility whenever needed to assure a properly functioning and harmonious workplace,
and has consistently conducted the business of the Administrative Office with great competence,
skill, and integrity; and
RESOLUTION IN HONOR OF EMMETT POGUE
UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE
Bt1TTE COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE
WHEREAS, Ernmett has served the residents of Butte County for 23 years with unselfish
dedication and professionalism, gaining the respect of fellow workers, past and present Supervisors,
and the public, and was awarded the Oroville Rotary Club Outstanding County Employee of the
Year Award in 1994.
NOW, THEREFORE, 13E IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf, and on
behalf of the residents of Butte County, expresses its sincere appreciation to Emmett Pogue for his
many years of outstanding service and, further, wishes him well upon his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this l9th day of
December 2000 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, HouY, Josiassen, Davis and Chair Dolan
