BUTTE COUNTY FARM BUREAU OUTSTANDING AGRICULTURIST
OF THF. YEAR 2000
WHEREAS, Richard Price was active in 4-H through high school and served as a ~-H
All Star. 'T'hrough the inspiration of his 4-H project leaders he went on to earn a Bachelors of
Science degree in I/ntomology; and
WHEREAS, Richard Price is married to Georgia and has two daughters, Stephanie and
Crystal, and twin boys, Steven and Sterling; and
WHEREAS, Richard Price has devoted thirteen years as Butte County's Agricultural
Commissioner and Sealer of Weights and Measures; and
WHEREAS, Richard Price has served as Interim Air Pollution Control Director and
Water Department Director; and
WHEREAS, Richard Price actively promotes a cooperative relationship among the
Agricultural Commissioner's office, the public, and the agricultural community. He helped start
a Day with Ag for Butte County teachers, and supports and participates in the annual Farm City
Celebration.
WHEREAS, Richard Price was the driving force in establishing a weed management
area, as well as dormant spray, Olive Fruit Fly and Glassy-winged Sharpshooter control and
monitoring programs. He monitors possible pest and disease infestations, and was instrumental
in developing a nut theft ordinance; and
WHEREAS, Richard Price reporCs monthly to the Butte County Farm Bureau Board of
Directors and attends many of their events. He is a regular contributor to the Butte County Farm
Bureau Newsletter; and
WHEREAS, Richard Price designed the budget accounting system used by the state
Agricultural Commissioners, and has served as secretary and chair of the statewide Agricultural
Commissioner's Association.
NOVV, THEREFORE, I3F, IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Beard of Supervisors
on its own behalf, and for the residents of Butte Caunty. wishes to recognize Richard Frice for
receiving the honor of Butte County Farm Bureau Outstanding Agriculturist of the Year 2000.
PASSED AND AUOPT'ED by the Butte Caunty Board of Supervisors this 27`x' day of
February 2001 by the following vote:
